The new extension links two existing buildings and gives traditional Douglas fir a modern interpretation, covering the ceiling, floor and wall, to create a space that flows uninterrupted. Decorative wall lights mark hidden doors to adjoining rooms and draw the eye through the gallery, while discreet accent lighting enhances the Falun red timber, highlights artwork and creates focal points throughout.

 

Traditional plank ceilings in the kitchen area are preserved and subtly utilised, with surface-mounted spotlights showcasing both the artwork and the richly patterned red quartzite worktops. Cast glass wall lights add visual interest and a soft glow.

 

In the entrance space, a striking colour palette and rich finishes are complemented by warm lighting, with lighter floor materials providing a sense of brightness in the dark winter months.
